The Euro-Med Award for the Dialogue between Cultures 2008

The Award is an annual prize which recognizes the achievements of individuals and organizations working for the promotion of intercultural dialogue. Each year, the Award is dedicated to a special theme.

In 2008, the Presidency of the Jury of the Anna Lindh Foundation selected the theme of Dialogue Through Arts.

The particular field of art chosen was visual arts which includes the following disciplines: drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. An honourable mention was given to the 5 finalists, one of whom is Abed Abdi, who has got the majority of votes of NGO's members of the Anna Lindh Network in 10  countries.

The Anna Lindh Foundation is an organisation shared and resourced by over forty Euro-Mediterranean countries, to bring people together as a way to promote dialogue between cultures and respect for diversity. The Foundation leads regional initiatives and support local activities carried out by organisations based across civil society which advocate for a better understanding among people, religions and beliefs, and champion human rights and democracy.
