This section presents Abed Abdi’s artworks from the 1980s — a decade in which he was deeply engaged in teaching art and art history in Haifa and other localities. While shaping the next generation of Palestinian artists, Abdi also continued to develop his own visual language rooted in collective memory and resistance.
One of the most significant artistic milestones of this period is the Wama Nasina (“And We Have Not Forgotten”) series. As Tal Ben Zvi writes, these works “form a visual archive of memory, where the trauma of the Nakba and the endurance of Palestinian identity intersect with symbols of continuity, exile, and rootedness.”
The artworks of this period reflect a deepening of narrative, formal complexity, and a persistent connection between the personal and the political.
