Exhibition Dates: June 15–20, 2024
Location: Károlyi Palace, Fehérvárcsurgó, Hungary
The inaugural exhibition of the Mozaik Euro-Mediterranean Art Hub opened on June 15, 2024, at the historic Károlyi Palace in Fehérvárcsurgó, Hungary. Titled Identities: A Visual Dialogue, this poignant and timely showcase brings together the works of two distinguished Haifa-based artists—Palestinian painter and curator Abed Abdi, and Israeli multidisciplinary artist Tal Gaosh.

The exhibition is the outcome of a month-long filmed art residency hosted by the International Art Colony in the tranquil village of Csókakő, West Hungary. Against the backdrop of escalating war and destruction in the Middle East, this creative collaboration sends a powerful message: that even in times of deep division, art remains a tool for dialogue, reflection, and hope.
Hosted by the Joseph Károlyi Foundation and organized by the Interkulti Association for the Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue, the residency offered the two artists a peaceful environment to create, connect, and explore their distinct yet interwoven identities. Through their artworks, they invite viewers to consider personal and collective histories shaped by the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Both artists used the opportunity not to provide political answers, but to raise questions—about belonging, loss, resilience, and coexistence. The result is a moving body of work and an accompanying documentary that reflect on the human condition, the urgency of peace, and the shared threads that bind us.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Amir Abdi, President of the Interkulti Association, who highlighted the vital role of culture in fostering understanding between peoples. The event also featured a speech by Mr. Endre Simó, President of the Hungarian Peace Circle, who emphasized the moral imperative of building bridges, saying:
“Looking into each other’s eyes and seeing the human in the other is a step towards understanding that our fate is shared… Only recognition and thanks are due to Tal Gaosh and Abed Abdi, the two main figures of the exhibition, for building a bridge between the peoples of Israel and Palestine through the language of art.”
This joint exhibition is part of Mobility for Creativity Vol. 4, supported by the Anna Lindh Foundation and co-funded by the European Union. It stands as a heartfelt appeal for peaceful coexistence—not only between Israelis and Palestinians but among all peoples.
