We are proud to present the Abed Abdi Public Art Interactive Map, a unique and growing digital archive that traces more than five decades of artistic contributions to public space. Spanning the years 1969 to 2025, these works include mosaics, reliefs, sculptures, monuments, and site-specific installations that engage deeply with history, community, and place.
From the streets of Haifa to towns like Sakhnin, Kafr Manda, Ibillin, Shfar’am, and Nazareth, this map highlights over 30 public artworks by Abed Abdi, the Palestinian artist and educator whose creative practice continues to shape the visual identity of cities and inspire new generations.

While the core of the artist’s public art legacy lies in Haifa, where Abdi has lived and worked for decades, the interactive map extends to Galilean towns, Arab villages, and educational institutions, as well as to international installations in Germany, Hungary, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.
Among the highlighted works:
“Land Day Monument” (Sakhnin, 1978) – the first Palestinian public monument in Israel, co-designed with Gershon Knispel, commemorating the martyrs of the 1976 Land Day protests.
“Aromas – Homage to Saliba Khamis” (Haifa, 2002) – an aluminum and steel relief that fuses memory, scent, and political history in the heart of Wadi Nisnas.
“Holiday of Holidays Mural” (Haifa, 1984) – a collaborative project with children from Arab, Jewish, and Baháʼí backgrounds, expressing coexistence through ceramic mosaics.
Environmental Mosaic Wall (Ibillin, 1982) – stretching 30 meters, this monumental mural at the Mar Elias Institutions is one of the artist’s most ambitious public commissions.
Wall Relief inside the Arab Academic College (Haifa, 2006) – an indoor piece integrating themes of education, identity, and continuity, accessible within the college grounds.
“Al-Burak” and “Situation-Installation” Sculptures – two site-specific installations (1996–1997) once exhibited publicly in Haifa, blending sculptural form with socio-political commentary.
“Spring Water” Mural (Dresden, GDR, 1971) – created while Abdi was studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden.
